The Nordic Group is one of two standing committees of the Boise Nordic Foundation, Inc., a charitable non-profit 501C3 organization (formerly known as "BBLSEF"). The other standing committee is the Bogus Basin Nordic Team. The mission of the Nordic Group is:
To advocate, advise and support Nordic Skiing on the Boise Front, and to provide an interface function with Bogus Basin management to further Nordic skiing education at the Bogus Basin Nordic Center. The Boise Nordic Foundation-Nordic Group is devoted to enchaning cross-country ski opportunities for all ages, abilities and goals.
History:
The Nordic Group beganin 1989 as "The Nordic Foundation," one of the first volunteer organizations directly promoting the lifetime sport of cross-country skiing in the Treasure Valley area. We sponsor Trail Improvement days each autumn. We've also provided primary support for new trails, including Sapper's Return and Sidewinder in 1995, Red Tail, Meadow and Two Deer in 2002 and the completion of Red Tail Trail in 2004.
Our most significant effort is the Solar powered night skiing system installed in 2005 and expanded in 2007.
